Time for Tea

Last tea, Beijing

China Air to Beijing today.

Follow the workshop at Beijing2010.

The goal is to unfold something authentic about the experience — to get below the surface of the cliché that we think we know.

It can be simple, like learning how to drink free leaf green tea, or more complex, like learning how to navigate a world without an alphabet.

I want to learn how to picture a process that is subtle and multi-varied. Can a camera show us something we don't know how to see?

The workshop looks great; really thought-provoking.

I enjoy the question you present at the end. I'd like to think the photos a camera can capture teaches us something new - perhaps inspires us to shoot from a different angle or approach life from a new perspective. I think that's one of the reasons taking photos is so deeply satisfying, it engages the soul in a way that cannot be expressed through words and opens up a forum for discussion. Because we harbor different perspectives, this medium - the photos - shows us new ways to see things. Whether their right or wrong comes after the fact and in some cases, doesn't matter. - Sue
